This was Emilie's (M as we call her sometime) fourth birthday cake. She was all into princesses and characters and came to me with her Ariel and Flounder toys with the request of a cake. I thought of an underwater adventure theme. I debated over whether to make the ocean blue or not, but decided to leave it white. In keeping with Spring colors, Ariel and Flounder sit atop a colorful array of underwater features: reflection of a rainbow, sea shells, sea creatures and sea weeds. Flounder swims a small distance away on a single layer cake. The cakes were layered with pudding and fruit filling and frosted with whipped cream. Decorations made from butter-cream frosting added a vivid life to the white background.
